Georgia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities


OVERVIEW

DBHDD operates state hospitals and provides for community-based services across the state through contracted providers. The department serves people living with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgia’s public safety net, our primary responsibility is to serve people who are uninsured. We also serve individuals on Medicaid and others with few resources or options.

Our program divisions are:

Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) has several opportunities across the state of Georgia for experienced Psychologists:

 

  • Assistant Forensic Director - Savannah, GA
  • Community Forensic Director  
  • Inpatient Forensic Psychologists providing forensic evaluation and treatment
  • Inpatient Adult Mental Health (civil) Psychologists providing individual and group interventions and psychological assessment
  • Outpatient Adult Forensic Evaluators of competency and criminal responsibility
  • Outpatient Juvenile Forensic Evaluators of competency, transfer, and disposition
  • Outpatient Intake and Evaluators of eligibility for Intellectual/Developmental Disability Services

 

**Positions are located throughout Georgia in addition to our hospitals in Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus, Milledgeville and Savannah**

Job Requirements
 

PsyD or PhD in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program. Georgia license or license eligible. Some inpatient units have opportunities for specialization in trauma-focused interventions, sex offender treatment, or habilitation for individuals with intellectual disability.

Doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice psychology AND One year of experience at the lower level Psychologist 1 (HCP140) or equivalent. Note: License may be temporary, provisional, or permanent.
