OVERVIEW

DBHDD operates state hospitals and provides for community-based services across the state through contracted providers. The department serves people living with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgia’s public safety net, our primary responsibility is to serve people who are uninsured. We also serve individuals on Medicaid and others with few resources or options.

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Registered Nurse/PRN on the Admissions Unit at Georgia Regional Hospital - Atlanta, located in Decatur, GA.

 

This is an hourly, part-time position with no benefits.

 

Job Description:

This position is critical to functioning of the Admissions Unit.  The person will plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care; assess client health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans.  Complete quality improvement as assigned; coordinate to provide a safe environment for the consumer and meet the minimum staffing requirements.

 

Technical Competencies:

Ability to assess, plan for, and provide basic nursing skills; knows procedures including developing, implementing and revising plan of care

Knowledge of nursing policies, procedures, protocols, treatments, standards of care and nurse practice act

Knowledge of the procedures for medication administration and can administer oral, sublingual and IV medications; knowledge of pharmacology

Knowledge of immunization regulations and protocols

Ability to perform CPR.
