Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for their Early Head Start Lead Instructor position, in the Academic and Student Affairs Division. This position is located at ATC’s (Main) Campus, which is just South of Downtown Atlanta.

Duties are:

  • Plan and implement the Creative Curriculum in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the Department of Early Care and Learning. 
  • Observe and record the developmental progress of children in all domains using the Teaching Strategies Gold Child Assessment and utilizing the Individual Family Service Pan 
  • Prepare daily learning activities and materials for infant and toddlers for small and large group experiences
  • Encourage the children in experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation, socialization, and choice making. 
  • Provide written and verbal communication to parents on a daily basis. 
  • Plan and conduct home and/or personal visits; Work with and encourage parents, and the community to volunteer. 
  • Collaborate with the Hub Specialists in meeting the needs of all children, including those with special needs.
  • Meet the health and safety guidelines based on the Infant/Toddler Environmental Rating Scale. 
  • Plan for the nutritional needs of the children including support for the mothers who are nursing. 
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and appropriate professional development activities as assigned; assist in planning and conducting parent conferences. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A high school diploma or GED or (1) year's qualifying child care experience. Experience as a teacher at a childcare facility that used creative curriculum. CPR/First Aid.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education must be from regional accredited private or public postsecondary institution.  Excellent communication skills, comfortable with technology and using Microsoft Office Suite

The incumbent must meet all of the following minimum requirements: (1) Never have been found by credible evidence, e.g. a court or jury, a department investigation or other reliable evidence to have abused, neglected or deprived a child or adult or to have subjected any person to serious injury as a result of intentional or grossly negligent misconduct; (2) be at least 18 years of age; (3) have current evidence of successful completion of a biennial training program in CPR and a triennial training program in first aid which have been offered by certified or licensed health care professionals and which dealt with the provision of emergency care to infants and children if the caregiver is to be counted as part of the 50% of the child care staff with the required current evidence of CPR and first aid training; (4) not be suffering from any physical handicap or mental health disorder, which would interfere with the person's ability to perform assigned job duties adequately; (5) not have a criminal record; (6) have either a high school diploma or general education diploma (GED) or one (1) year's Instructor, Child Enrichment Center Note: Pre-K Instructor positions must possess a minimum of a Bachelor�s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related degree as a minimum qualification
