Central State Hospital (CSH) is currently seeking a Forensic Clinical Director. CSH is the home of Georgia’s maximum secure forensic hospital, operated in the Payton B. Cook building in Milledgeville. The hospital serves individuals who are referred by the criminal justice system for pre-trial psychiatric evaluation and/or inpatient treatment; those who have been found not guilty by reason of insanity at the time of commission of a crime or mentally incompetent to stand trial; and those who are admitted on hold orders from jails for psychiatric evaluation, treatment and stabilization.

 

This critical medical leader will develop and implement related policies and procedures, monitor and evaluate programs, and provide transformational medical leadership to the 182 bed hospital.  Central State Hospital is the premier Forensic Hospital operated by Georgia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD).

 

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, traits, and experience:

 
  • Board Certification in Forensic Psychiatry
  • A current State of Georgia license to practice medicine
  • Significant medical experience leading, managing, and coordinating forensic behavioral health services
  • Demonstrated experience improving medical services in a large complex behavioral health organization
  • The ability to professionally challenge the way things are done and implement improvement plans
 

This selected candidate will be an employee of the State of Georgia, which offers an excellent salary and benefit package and report to DBHDD Medical Director.

Medical degree recognized by the Georgia Composite Medical Board (GCMB) AND licensure or license-eligible to practice medicine at a state institution or in the state of Georgia as provided by state law AND Two years of experience at the lower level Physician 2 (HCP161) or position equivalent.
