DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  Applicant must reside within 35 miles of the barn or be willing to relocate. 
 
The Mansfield Impound Barn is the main rehabilitation center for equine that enter the GDA program for neglected horses in the State of Georgia.
 
  • Under general supervision, performs routine general horse care and horse farm work.
  • Must be willing to work on weekends and 1 ½ days during the week up to 29 hrs. per week.
  • Able to make general repairs to water lines and fences and general farm maintenance
  • Able to safely drive a tractor, weed eater, riding mower and other equipment
  • Must be able to work around and with horses. (Medicate, feed, water and handle
  • Responsible for keeping office, feed room and bathroom clean
  • Clean stalls and paddocks disposing of manure
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly- hay bales
  • Other duties as assigned. 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Must have horse and farm experience. Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent. Checkable recommendations. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly- hay bales. No smoking or alcohol on the farm
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:   Preference will be given to applicants, who, in addition to meeting the Minimum Qualifications, possess knowledge, skills and abilities in the following areas:
  • Two years of experience in horse handling and/or farm work. at least one year of experience in (i.e. veterinary equine clinic/hospital, boarding/breeding).
