The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Board Eligible Physician, at Georgia Regional Hospital - Atlanta.

 

Located on 174 Acres in DeKalb County, Georgia Regional Hospital in Atlanta operates 300 licensed, accredited inpatient beds in three major program areas: Adult Mental Health, Forensic Services, and Developmental/Intellectual Disabilities. In addition, GRH/Atlanta also offers inpatient and outpatient Dental Services.

 
Job Summary:
 

Under general supervision, provides comprehensive medical services by examining patients, diagnosing conditions and providing treatments.  Directs nurses, aides and others in the care and treatment of patients. 

 
Job Description:
 
  • May supervise staff
  • Refers patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary
  • Advises patients on health care including health promotion, disease, illness and accident prevention
  • Coordinates work with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists and other health care providers
  • Directs and coordinates activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff
  • Examines patients and take their histories, order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures and consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients’ physical and mental health
  • Prescribes or administers treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury
  • Provides emergency medical care

Qualifications
 

Medical degree recognized by the Georgia Composite Medical Board (GCMB) AND licensure or license-eligible to practice medicine at a state institution or in the state of Georgia as provided by state law.  Physician must be Board Eligible.
