This position is assigned to the following counties : Chattahoochee, Marion, Taylor, Macon, Schley, Sumter, Webster, Stewart, Quitman, Randolph, Terrell, Lee, Dougherty, Calhoun and Clay. Applicant must reside in Randolph, Terrell, or Lee counties or an adjoining county.
Field inspectors handle many issues involving livestock and poultry on a daily basis; whether at a public sale, market or show or enforcement of health regulations and laws pertaining to state requirements in order to keep Georgians and animals healthy. Livestock and Poultry enforces and regulates statutes governing the public sale of livestock and poultry, mortality disposal, and disease control. Some job duties in this position can range from inspecting and testing livestock at auction market to inspection of poultry pits and conducting mortality disposal site assessments, among other duties. Agriculture Inspectors enforce health requirements for livestock show, fairs, etc. This position requires shift work and off days not necessarily be Saturday and Sunday.
Vocational/Technical degree in agriculture, horticulture, environmental science, pest control, entomology or a closely related field from an accredited college OR High school diploma or GED AND One year of experience in the area of assignment OR Two years of college, which included 12 semester hours or 20 quarter hours in chemistry or life sciences.
