Assistant Landscape Manager
Position Description: Under general supervision, oversees the maintenance of grounds for assigned properties. Operates and maintains grounds equipment as necessary. Supervises, guides, and provides task guidance to assigned staff. This position also performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Agency Specific): Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of related experience as a supervisor/lead worker AND valid driver’s license OR Two years of related experience as a supervisor/lead worker AND valid driver’s license OR One year of experience at the lower level Grounds Maintenance Tech 2 (FET072) or position equivalent. Must meet the agency’s requirements to be an authorized driver.
Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) years of experience in commercial grounds maintenance and two (2) years of supervisory experience. Two (2) years of experience applying pesticides. Possess a valid Georgia Commercial Pesticide Applicator License and two (2) years of related experience. One (1) year of experience with designing and execution of planting seasonal flower beds. Experience with Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
Competencies: Knowledge of grounds keeping, simple horticulture practices, design and repair of irrigation systems, masonry techniques; Knowledge of the various types of gardens and walkways; Knowledge of safety policies, procedures, and precautions. Ability to delegate assignments, evaluate staff needs, train, and mentor staff.
Travel: this position requires frequent travel in and around the Capitol Hill area. Other travel may be required infrequently.
