Job Description
Under general supervision, performs entry level engineering analysis, design, plan, review and inspection for work of moderate difficulty. Trainee participates in a formal training program to become proficient in the operational and organizational functions and structure of the Department. Job requires application of professional engineering concepts, principles, practices and methods sufficient to perform a broad range of engineering activities in a variety of work environments.
Effective May 1, 2015, employees in the title of Civil Engineering 2 are required to remain in their assigned Office/District upon hire for a minimum of six months (not to include time completed during the PEDP rotations) prior to applying for positions in other Offices/Districts within the Department. Final approval is also required from the Chief Engineer and Human Resources.

AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or civil engineering technology from an ABET accredited program. (If selected for the position, you will be required to provide an original college transcript).
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with others in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to reason and make sound, well-informed decisions.
- Ability to apply innovative solutions in solving problems.
- Ability to research, gather and organize information into a presentable understandable format.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated experience in a transportation or civil engineering related environment
