CNA/PCT Instructor/Coordinator
Savannah Technical
College is seeking a 12-month full-time faculty member to serve as a Certified
Nurse Assistant and Patient Care Technician Instructor/Coordinator to oversee
the program located on multiple campuses.
This position reports to the Dean for Health Sciences, and under general
supervision will perform duties to include: curriculum implementation and
instruction, recruitment and advisement of students; budgeting; and management
of adjunct faculty. In addition to instructing/coordinating the CNA/PCT program, the successful candidate may be
expected to provide support to the practical nursing program as needed. The coordinator will also be responsible for
the ongoing development, implementation and instruction of the Patient Care
Assisting program. All candidates must:
· Develop,
manage, and teach classes, delivering instruction both individually and as a
member of a team;
· Prepare
lesson plans for classroom instruction in the nurse aide and patient care
occupational courses;
· Develop
and coordinate curriculum;
· Establish
and maintain clinical sites for CNA/PCT students;
· Ensure
compliance with Georgia Medical Care Foundation’s (GMCF) standards and
accomplish all programs’ direct duties under the guidance of Georgia Medical
Care Foundation;
· Coordinate
CNA testing with GMCF;
· Evaluate
effectiveness of courses through student data, graduate surveys, and employer
surveys;
· Assist
with developing annual CNA/PCT budget;
· Maintain
program certification requirements, as appropriate;
· Prepare
and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports from
internal and external departments and agencies;
· Participate
in College committees and meetings;
· Assist
with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts;
· Manage
adjunct faculty teaching schedules;
· Order
and maintain equipment and supplies;
· Advise
and register health sciences students;
· Maintain
knowledge of current trends and developments in the field;
· Follow
policies/procedures of Savannah Technical College;
· Follow
standards for student-faculty professional relationships/interaction;
· Possess
basic computer skills to include, but not limited to, word; excel; power point;
and email;
· Possess
skills in oral and written communication, as well as excellent organizational
skills;
· Possess
excellent customer service skills to deal professionally with Savannah Tech
employees, students, and visitors;
· Must
be flexible to teach evening classes and clinicals;
· Perform
other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
· Must
possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited
post-secondary institution, and hold current, unencumbered nursing licensure
in the state of Georgia.
Must
have a minimum of two (2) years of nursing work experience and at least one
(1) year experience in long-term care.
Must possess valid driver’s
license and required insurability.
Preferred
Qualifications
·
Master’s
Degree in Nursing from an accredited post-secondary institution.
·
Administrative
and teaching experience in a CNA/PCT program or course.
·
Prior
experience with CNA certification procedures.
·
Nurse
Aide Program Train the Trainer.
Physical
Demands
Teaching responsibilities are
typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee
intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for
three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employee frequently lift/carries objects
that weigh 10lbs. or less. Clinical
responsibilities are typically performed in a hospital, long term care
facility, or other medical facilities and require the at the employee stand/or
walk for ten (10) – twelve (12) hours; bend, twist, push/and or pull for three
(3) – four (4) hours; and occasionally lift 50lbs. to 75lbs. per rotation. The exposure to infectious diseases, gas, or
fumes is possible during clinical rotations.
Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry
purposes.

Salary is commensurate with
