The
Residential Care Provider monitors general resident activity to observe and
report behavior/progress of the individuals with severe developmental
disabilities or mental illnesses living in a group home or other community
residential setting. Interacts with the individuals positively and
respectfully. Uses age and gender appropriate language. Trains
individuals in appropriate social interactions that promote positive images and
culturally typical behaviors.
Determines
the individuals strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences by observing
daily activities and reviewing records. Assists individuals in basic
problem-solving and daily decision-making using the least intrusive methods
appropriate for each. Acknowledges and praises their choices.
Provides
training and oversight in daily living skills and personal care, such as
dressing, hygiene, housekeeping, cooking, and laundry using techniques
appropriate for their abilities. Maintains the residence in a clean and
organized condition, supplementing the efforts of the individuals to assure a
sanitary living environment. Plans and prepares meals, supplementing the
efforts of individuals to assure the provision of well-balanced meals.
Serves meals using settings and methods that promote use of good manners
and other principles of normalization.
Transports
individuals to work, day programs, doctor appointments, shopping, recreational
and other activities. Uses personal vehicle for transportation needs when
agency vehicle is unavailable. Provides training and oversight in money
management: shopping, making purchases, accounting for correct change,
and obtaining receipts. Provides support for the individuals as needed in
interactions with medical and other service providers. Facilitates relationships
with family members, neighbors, friends, and others in the community as desired
by each individual. Solicits and observes individual’s choices and preferences
for recreation/leisure activities. Supervises and trains individuals during
community activities, as appropriate. Assures the safety of individuals
during community activities by anticipating risks and following safety
protocols.
Supervises
the self-administration of individuals medications using agency
protocols. Maintains required records.
Documents
progress toward goals and objectives and behavior plans in individuals
activity/progress notes, on data-tracking sheets, and/or other prescribed skill
builder formats . Completes all home records, logs, notes, assessments,
reports, and other documentation according to protocols.
Lifts
and carries groceries and supplies, moves furniture for cleaning. Helps
handicapped individuals on/off vehicle and secures seatbelts.
Performs other duties that require moderate lifting. May use a gait belt
or mechanical lift to lift and position individuals, as needed.
Salary: $22,000 -
$24,000 (Depending on experience and education)
Hiring for both shifts:
- Wed - Sun (6:45AM to 7:15PM SAT & SUN; 2:45PM to 11:15PM weekday shifts) - 1st and 2nd shift
- Mon & Wed-Sun (2:45PM to 11:15PM; 10:45PM to 7:15AM; 6:45PM to 7:15AM) - 2nd and 3rd shift
