View Point Health is seeking  full-time Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPS-Y) to join the Child and Adolescent Crisis Stabilization Unit. The C&A CSU is a medically monitored, short term crisis stabilization that provides psychiatric and behavioral stabilization for individuals and detoxification for individuals who are seriously, emotionally disturbed and substance abuse dependent adults.  VPH C&A CSU is designated as an Emergency Receiving and an Evaluating Facility. The CSU is designated as an Emergency Receiving and an Evaluating Facility, and is NOT a treatment facility designated by the DBHDD to receive individuals for involuntary commitment for treatment. The CSU provides emergency receiving, screening, and evaluation services 24- hours a day, seven days a week, and has the capacity to admit and discharge seven (7) days a week. The CSU is a safe, locked unit with twenty-seven (27) beds. The CSU provides services that are under the direction of a licensed, trained and qualified psychiatrist. A psychiatrist is on-call 24-hours a day; rounds are made on the unit seven (7) days a week. The target population to be served is adolescents ages 14 to 17 from anywhere in the state of Georgia who require psychiatric or behavioral stabilization and/or detoxification.

The goal of the crisis program is to stabilize youth in the least restrictive environment, to assist in crisis stabilization by providing a comprehensive treatment plan utilizing the youth’s and/or family’s strengths, natural supports and community resources.

Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to):

 

Responsibilities:

 

·         Offer support and facilitate Peer Support Services with adolescents who are currently inpatient Crisis Stabilization Unit clients (14-17 yrs.).

·         Will assist with facilitating group activities, daily living activities, physical activities, and assist with community resources.

·         Participate with the multi-disciplinary treatment team to provide feedback for clients’ care.

 

Requirements:

 

• Must be a certified peer specialist (youth) in the state of Georgia. http://www.gacps.org/Home.html
• Must be 18-26 years of age; provide a copy of this document or valid Georgia ID:
• Have a mental health (MH), substance use disorder (SUD), abstinent from illicit substances for at least 1 year.;  or co-occurring diagnosis; and a strong desire to identify themselves as a person living in recovery with a mental illness or substance use diagnosis;

• Be able to advocate for themselves;
• Be able/willing to actively seek and manage their own appropriate care; and be able to share their own personal story in a safe and appropriate way;
• Must be well grounded in recovery wellness (At least one year between diagnosis and receiving appropriate treatment and/or one year continuous abstinence from substance use.)


Provide a letter of reference attesting to the applicant’s commitment to their own wellness and recovery. (Please include contact information)

Provide two additional reference contacts (previous supervisors requested)



High school diploma or GED AND any combination of training and experience, which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.
