Job Description and Requirements:
The Clayton Judicial Circuit Public Defender Office is seeking an Assistant Public Defender. This vacancy will be filled at the Assistant Public Defender III or IV level. This determination will be based on experience. Primary duties include representing indigent clients with criminal case(s) in Superior Court. Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities for the position. Emphasis will be placed upon candidates' demonstrated commitment to indigent defense. Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university AND license to practice law in the State of Georgia AND 2 years experience in the area of criminal law are required for this position. Preference will be given to candidates who have 5 or more years of criminal defense experience. Applicants must be a current member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.
