Part Time/Adjunct Aviation Technology Instructors
Savannah Technical College is
continuously seeking qualified candidates for adjunct faculty teaching
positions. Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions of
employment appointed on a per academic term basis. Day and evening hours
available. Duties
include a flexible schedule of lecture and/or laboratory, and may involve split
teaching shifts or routine travel between campus locations.
Responsibilities (this
list is not intended to be exhaustive):
- Duties include a flexible schedule of lecture,
lesson planning, student advisement, and registration, which may involve split
teaching shifts and/or travel to multiple campuses.
- Instructs students, evaluates and records
student progress in attaining goals and objectives.
- Advises/counsels students, maintains
appropriate student records on each student; provides student registration
assistance.
- Ensures compliance with accreditation
standards of regional and national accrediting agencies.
- Ensures safety requirements are met in the
classroom and laboratory environments.
- Completes reports and requests for information
from internal and external departments and agencies.
- Monitors student use of supplies, materials,
and equipment. Reports inventory and
orders supplies/equipment as necessary.
- Recruits new students to the Aviation
programs, and manages student retention.
- May recruit and/or supervise Adjunct Faculty.
- May serve on committees and/or work on
projects with other instructional departments/divisions.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean
of Aviation.
- Follows all policies and procedures of
Savannah Technical College.
Most program areas experience occasional rotation of adjunct instructors. Savannah Technical College recruits continuously for Adjunct Faculty in the following disciplines:
- Aircraft Technology: Aircraft Assembly, Luxury Craft
Cabinetmaking, Aircraft Upholstery and Trim
- Aviation Maintenance
- Advanced
Aviation Maintenance
- Avionics
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of an Associate’s Degree program in
Aviation Maintenance or related field at an accredited college or university (OR)
five years’ work experience within related field.
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
Mechanic’s Certificate with Airframe & Powerplant Ratings required (Required
for Aviation Maintenance and Advance Aviation Maintenance; Preferred for
Aircraft Technology, Aircraft Assembly, and Avionics).
- Must demonstrate excellent written and oral
communication skills along with computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must have three (3) years of aircraft
maintenance experience within the past seven (7) years.
- Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree program in
Aviation Maintenance or related field at an accredited college or university.
- Teaching experience at a FAA Part 147 school
preferred.
- Teaching experience at a postsecondary
institution and/or corporate environment is strongly desired.
Physical Demands:
Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a
classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing,
walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) – four (4) continuous
hours at a time. The employee frequently
lifts lightweight objects up to 50LBS.
The work is performed in campus buildings and outdoors where the
employee is occasionally exposed to cold or inclement weather. The exposure to
dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, chemicals, and fumes is
possible in the laboratory environment.
The ability to distinguish colors is required for purposes of electrical
wiring.
Salary/Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with education
and work experience.
