Part Time/Adjunct Culinary Arts Instructor
Savannah
Technical College seeks a part-time, evening Culinary Arts Instructor.
This
individual is responsible for:
· Preparing
lesson plans for classroom instruction, developing program syllabi, goals and
objectives.
· Evaluating
students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
· Maintaining
program certification requirements as appropriate.
· Preparing
and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports.
· Maintaining
knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff
development training, workshops, seminars and conferences.
· Ensures
safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
· Meets
with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students’
instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of
students.
· Work
diligently to maximize student placements in this field or related fields.
· May
be responsible for organizing and managing culinary events of up to 500 people
for the College and the general public.
Duties
include a flexible schedule of lecture, student advisement and registration.
Must be willing to work split teaching shifts that might require split teaching
days between campus locations.
Minimum
Qualifications:
· Must
be ServSafe Manager certified
· Must
have an Associate Degree from a nationally/regionally accredited culinary arts
program
· Must
have 3 years of verifiable success as an Executive Chef
· Must
have three years of instructional experience at an accredited culinary arts
program which must be certified also by the American Culinary Federation
Preferred
Qualifications:
· Preference
will be given to those candidates who have a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in
Education or related field with extensive coursework in curriculum
development/design
· A
strong knowledge in baking, pastry, and Garde Manger is preferred
Physical
Demands:
Teaching
responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with
the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and
pulling for three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employee frequently lifts/carries objects
that weigh 50lbs. or less. Full range of hand and finger motion is required for data
entry purposes. Exposure to chemicals and fumes is possible in the laboratory environment.
Salary/Benefits:
Salary
is commensurate with education and work experience.
